In 2026, I was honored to be appointed President of the community-driven Belgian Chamber of Commerce of Houston – a role that brings together everything I care about: connecting people across cultures, building strong professional networks, and strengthening the bridge between Belgium and Texas.
Houston is home to a vibrant and growing community of Belgian professionals, entrepreneurs, and companies – yet many of us have never met each other. My goal as President is to change that: to turn the Belgian Chamber into the natural gathering point for anyone with a tie to Belgium doing business, building a career, or simply living life in Houston.
Connection first. Whether you're a Belgian executive relocating to Texas, an entrepreneur exploring the US market, or someone who's called Houston home for twenty years, the Chamber should be the place where you find your people. Strong professional relationships start with genuine ones.
Real networking, not just business cards. I want our events to create actual connections – the kind that lead to partnerships, hires, clients, mentorship, and friendships. That means smaller, well-curated gatherings alongside bigger signature events, always with room for real conversation.
A bridge between Belgium and Houston. With Houston's deep ties to energy, aerospace, medicine, and international trade, there's enormous opportunity for Belgian companies and professionals here – and for Houston-based businesses looking to Belgium and Europe. The Chamber should actively facilitate those connections, not just talk about them.
Community beyond business. Professional life and community life go hand in hand. Social events – from World Cup watch parties to holiday celebrations to casual get-togethers – are just as important as formal networking, because they're where trust and friendship are built.
